I'm half-done with the Wavemistress sign (#3639). I did the text, but I can't do the wave. Here's my WIP, correct resolution:

You need to export them to an MD3. Have you UV mapped and skinned it?

i have a bad notice D= the milkshape hate me XD , because i can skin the stereo prop or other model, i skin the model and this close the program and whit other modeler sorry for this problem but i can help whit the textures, here a 2 examples

Good... But they're both really weird sizes. And the wood is extremely pixely.

Yes, the imageshack is 512x512. What modeler are you using? If you can export to 3DS, it will work.

Yeah, i use Poser for the human models, but the frog was redrawn entirely in Photoshop (from scratch)

Working on this right now (see attachment).
Has anyone made the bamboo-poles yet? I could use them for the borders of this picture.

I've been going through both of the addon HRPs, fixing bugs and making simple tiles. I'll get some math done about progress.

Probably the most major thing I've done is actually added the music.def to vacation_hrp.def. The second thing, I got rid of the ATOMIC sign replacement from the title screen, menu, and 3D Realms screen. By some stroke of fate, I used the same font that was used everywhere else. But it was ugly, and it didn't belong.

Keycard? Don't you mean Credit Card?

chicken, can you edit the texture for the keycard model that is already in the HRP? That way it is 3D. But focus on making the texture first.

BTW, you are our #1 contributor to the VacaHRP.

Creditcard: Yes, i took the existing hrp-picture, so it should fit (but i havent tried it ingame yet)

Good job on your credit card. However, you should be basing it on highres\sprites\firstperson\2563_tripkeyhand_b.png because it is a bigger size than the pickup version.

I extracted all of the frames from the cutscene, removed redundant ones, and converted them to PNG so that artists could remake them easier.

Bigger keycard: no Problem

The missing textures: They should be included in the textures i sent you (except for hair and clothes, making hairtexture should be easy, the bikini is just plain blue... dunno.)

Could you pm me a uv-mapping-scheme (or whatever i should call it) and a screenshot of what it looks like now?
If i know where to put what on the texture i can easily do it.
Right now i got problems imagining the whole thing... (and also i'm really curious about it )

[6.0.0] “So, how can I help?”

First, check the to-do list to see what is done and what needs to be done.
For the most accurate version, check the thread link below.

Second, make sure that if you take art from somewhere, check its license first!
You should also cite any sources you took from, even if it's another HRP.

Third, do not use any of the original 8-bit art in your final products.
You may use the art as placeholders, but do not leave it in the final product.
The exception to this rule is when a complex object (such as an enemy) has not been
re-done.  It can be added to the interim release version.  However, once a replacement
has become available, then you must use it instead of the original.

Fourth, post the artwork at the 3D Realms thread.  If you do not have an account, 
e-mail the artwork to me (Hendricks266).  Tell me what you would like to be credited as.

Fifth, check the vacation/extra folder to see if there is a WIP.

Last, remember to back up your source .psd/.xcf files, and your source models.  It will
make rule #3 a lot easier. =D
@chicken:
Good job. I would like to point out:
  • the background and hands don't belong
  • use the original fonts, Comic Sans MS for the text, your current THE END is a right font, but it needs to be smaller
  • I can't do anything with them as of now, no cutscene replacement is available
  • the only picture was Duke in the hot tub
You not work on the frames that have untextured tiles on them. Once everything is retextured, it is perfectly acceptable to use screenshots.

You also forgot a texture for the Kobayashi Maru (the boat's name), #3787. It is used for the metal pipe.

Do we have to stick that close to the original?
I added the hands, background and more pictures because the original seemed a little naked.
I agree with authenticity as far as the ingame-tiles are concerned, but aren't the cutscenes something different? Their purpose is to reward the player for completing the game. Can't we boost them a little?

I will take the comic sans if you insist but i think it's ... ugly.


I have replaced the untextured parts (for example the credits screen - attachment). I've tiled them a little differently.


As far as "borrowed" material from the main HRP is concerned... I did that quite a lot without extra citing it.

I'll try to make pictures too, with the new ToDo lists of Vaca and NW.

No, not 1024x768. It needs to be the original ×4, the HRP standard. That would make it 320x200 ×4, 1280x800.

That reminds me, make sure your textures are power of 2. I'll add to my readme section with more guidelines.

A power of two is 2 taken to an exponent. In order:
1, 2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, 4096, 8192, 16384, 32768, 65536, 131072, 262144, et cetera.

For clarification, the new subsection:
Code:
Sixth, make sure textures are exactly 4 times the original size of the tile.  In most cases,
you should end up with a power of 2 texture (256x256, 512x512, 1024x512, et cetera).  However,
if the original art has a weird resolution, then you should use the original ×4.
