Hmm, looking at that poster I realized that Duke's face looks somehow different from his likeness in Duke Nukem 3D, DNMP and console games, but I can't just place it. Maybe it's just the angle at which the poster is shown, I dunno. Weird.

Here are a couple of more more close, more straight-on, images...
Looking at all these different Dukes together is an eye-opening experience... in that they vary drastically. I know that some people complained or "noted" that the new Duke Action figure looked rather unusual. After seeing all these images, I understood that the figure was probably very accurate as this was the source material for the sculpt, not Duke Nukem 3D, Duke.

I get the impression as if Duke were being played by a different actor.

I'll never understand what they were thinking with the head cutout stands.

Why wasn't it Duke's head we were standing in for exactly?

I don't know anyone who wants to pretend to be a air headed slut. Just sayin'!

Oh yeah Commando... like you NEVER pretend to be an air-headed slut. There is a little air-headed slut in all of us I think.
(Hehehe)
I thought that odd also... I think I saw some version where Dukes face was cut out. At least for the shows, they should have them where you could swing them in and out of the way for whoever you wanted to be.
Come to think of it, they are both kind of sluts in a way... or maybe he-whore is more appropriate.

I don't use mine as a picture standee, but If I did, the face would pop in and out so you be whichever ho you wanted to.

Seriously though... can you IMAGINE what this standee would look like using the Duke 3D box cover art? Epic? I think so. If you imagine those two side by side it is difficult not to think "Douche Nukem".

I just thought that Duke on that poster looks a bit like [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Klepacki]Frank Klepacki[/i]. Could it be that someone went for a hidden C&C Commando reference here?

I actually had a rather complicated train of thought that arrived at this idea :
1. Duke's face on the poster somewhat reminded me of Frank K.
2. Your discussion of the girl reminded me of the fan art where Duke is paired with Lara Croft.
3. The "Shake it baby!" quote came to mind.
4. It just so happens that "Shake it baby!" is also one of Tanya Adams' (Command & Conquer: Red Alert series) quotes.
5. Tanya Adams would, in fact, make a great female counterpart to Duke, genre distinctions notwithstanding.
6. Frank K did the voice of the Commando, the male counterpart to Tanya from the first Command & Conquer.
7. Back to point 1
