Irritated Question: Possible to do this? III
So, as the title says, it´s once again time to ask something.

My question is: how you can import 16-64bit images to
Duke Nukem - of course to 8bit Duke Nukem 3D?

Um if your image editor allows you to save it as a gif with an "Adaptive" color pallet than it should be fine. The gimp might be able to do this, but I have no idea. I use photoshop for this kind of stuff..

If you are asking what I'm thinking now, you should use .png format and use def language to define which textures you are going to replace. Check for def language at eduke wiki to learn about it more.

That is not what he is asking. . .

You want to take high res pictures and put them in Duke 3D (as in DOS running, 486 using, Duke Nukem)?
I think it was Dukeres that did something like that.

Well, actually not. I´m using Dukeres, and I cannot do it with it.

Oh, and I´ve saved my needed files to PNG file format.
Not sure about that def. language - could work. HRP used .def files to
define highres textures and other stuff in it. Tried, but I couldn´t get it to
work... Please help!

Oh, he actually wants to convert those png's and add them as bmp's? Ok, I can advice you bastART. It is what I've been using for years to add new art. DukeRes is only useful for copy and paste and offset setting stuff.

Nevermind by above answer as it was wrong and it's fail was corrected by Mr.Fibbles. If I'm wrong with this one also, please let me know, anyone.

OK, thanks for your help so far. Anyway, I have a simple question now:

Is it possible to put 16BIT IMAGES into the art file?
May sound impossible... but... is it possible? I just wouldn´t to get this
topic closed before it is possible to get 16BIT images to 8BIT Duke Nukem 3D
without any HRP. Oh, come on! I know there is way. Just someone should tell it to me!

Using Irfanview can help you a lot. However, if you are going to use all of them, then sad but you'll have to convert every single of them...

Unfortunately to get anything higher than 8-bit images in duke, it requires using the def language ala HRP. Classic mode is 8-bit pure and simple.
