Metal Gear Solid Mod
Allright ive moved this thread from cd games cause any chance of me getting 3d models and some files from my ps2 cd are deader than S**t.
so ill be needing some advanced art modders and a few cooders. as for me i am a good art modder a fair mapper and a poor cooder.

So this mods maps will take place in the metal gear solid one enviroment. and we might make a few MGS 3 maps.(as a bonus)

And it would be awesome to have solid snake quotes.

so where should we start?

You could always get sounds of Snake from the PS1 game pretty easy or the PC version if you own them.

Yeah DT is right. Screenshots and we may see what we can do. At least some preview maps For me, I can do some easy to above average, and a little hard coding.
I wish I had my special picture of; Screenhots or this never happened!

ok i think i can satisfy some of you. allright im making the first playable scene in mgs 1 where snake is trying to get to that elevator. and ive got a PSX emulator on my cpu. and mgs disc 1 and 2. so i can get dialog and from my wii Super smash brothers brawl. snake. by recording.ok here is a shot of original mgs level and my map.

Haha, no need to be a dick Spiker. Though it does kind of look like this project is in need of mappers as well, making me wonder what exactly you plan on doing for this mod, miuzaki.

Speaking of MGS-themed mods, does anyone remember the demo for Brute Force: Alaskan Dawn? I liked the reliance on stealth (and neck snapping)... was pretty innovative for a Duke 1.5 mod.

Well, from what I see from those screenshots, I can say you really need some mappers. Too bad I can't help as I got my own project to worry about -.-

dude i just started this map! i had got angry from making this one once cause it crashed and i had to do itall over again too.

Yeah, he's a Starfox fan. Soooooo...obviously like all us Starfox fans he can pull out at the last minute when Andross is about to smack him in the face. Then he'll do a barrel roll then shoot Andross in the eye.

Which means that he'll have some cool map action for us within the coming days.

well the main reason i like fox is cause he kicks ass in brawl.but i like to play star fox on super nintendo alot too. its a classic

Yes, Fox is the best SSB character evar and the SNES Starfox is awesome, but you forgot Starfox Adventures which gave the furry community Krystal.

Well i dont have any gamecube starfox games but i have the n64 one. is pretty cool.but anyway where here to talk about metal gear solid. but im gonna take a break for now its early and i havent had breakfast. so ill see you guys soon.

ok im back and im gonna start mapping again. As for mapping i specialize in sprite stuctures. odd huh? but where i suck is in deciding witch texture to use.

I was never good at knowing which texture to use either, I'm a programmer though so I'm just a cold piece of flesh. XD

A huge while back I contacted him, saying I'd like to try and finish the demo (or at least add some extra maps to make it more playable). MGS was a huge inspiration for that; I redrew some textures from screenshots of MGS1 and the map was starting to look pretty cool. Then I ran kextract duke3d.grp *.art without backing anything up and that was the end of that.

As for this specific mod: don't recreate MGS maps. That's such a 1996 way to go. Instead try to get some good coding together to include convincing enemies and start gathering textures that share the super-slick MGS art style. That'll have a bigger chance of ending up as something fun and playable than a duke art-based recreating of Shadow Moses filled with pigcops. Also try to find out what makes MGS fun and find ways of recreating that in Duke (you'll have to have usable lockers, in example).

I don't know how well a Metal Gear Solid mod would really work... Those games have always been pretty sophisticated in terms of the graphics, animation and AI, does that really translate very well to the Duke3D engine?

It'll have to be from the first person perspective too so it would probably be more along the lines of Deus Ex.

If that map you posted above is going to be the legth of each of your levels, I would stop what your doing and forget about this mod.
It took like 10 seconds to run to that elevator.

No, that's part of the design. You run to the elevator for ten seconds, and then there's going to be a ten minute cinematic. Then you get to do something else for ten or twenty seconds.

At least this will be 10 sec packed with action so you won't be bored. You would not even manage to get bored in so short time. Also you should not play more than one map a day but you should contenplate this unique 10 seconds of awesomeness. You could play this map more times to try beat it in different ways.

Seriously though, stop picking on him... he can't map well, we got it, so do I I can't map well either... his talent is for something else such as mine...

Oh man, stop refrying this old pork chop. It was a bit exaggerated but only a bit. I believe that he really could develop it into some nice map if he spent more time working on it.
