You have a point.
But their position isn't (0,0,0). I think some hack in the code could move those sounds to the (0,0,0) and allow stereo. Well, we need to keep stereo sounds. |

Sorry to bump, but regarding redoing Duke's voice for the sound pack, is there anyway Clint Basinger might consider redoing them in high quality? He did a standup job on that Sound Board that was released. Best Duke impression I've heard yet.

Yes, what I'm saying is treason and sacrilage etc etc. But since you can't get Jon St John I just thought it'd be an option for higher quality sounds. Maybe as an extra pack if wouldn't want it with the rest of the HQ sound pack.
Or I'm being stupid.

Even though I think he sounds more like Clint Eastwood then Duke it would still be cool. Essentially his voice would have worked perfectly as Dukes voice but don't sound exactly like the Jon St John Duke.

Well, if you get this alternate actor to perform all the sounds indeed, I think it's at least worth a try. Maybe it can even make it interesting for Duke3D veterans to replay the whole game with a completely new protagonist voice.
BTW: Is there a sample of his voice somewhere? I have never heard anything done by him. |

You need Adobe Flash plugin installed in your browser.
Well, it sounds good. However the real recordings should be made with a better micro so you don't hear he's actually speaking his sentences into one. Otherwise, I guess it could really work! |

Wouldn't it be possible to get the original sound bank CDs and copy higher quality versions of the sounds, since they are usually royalty-free? This won't work for the voices; we'll have to ask 3DR for that.

b3die3g.ogg ctrlrm25.ogg Probably they need rename? The other 3 files are missing?

You can always check the USER.CON to be sure on what their names are. I would suggest you to rename them on your own if it's just an issue of names

I suggest to not use full filenames in DEFs.
The same convention is used for the Music Pack and is recommended for this pack because it will prevent the sounds of mods from being overridden by the Sound Pack. Code:
// full path Sound { ID 0 file "highres/sound/kickhit.ogg" } // recommended format (will be expanded to "highres/sound/kickhit.ogg") Sound { ID 0 file "highres/sound/" } Authors of mods are encouraged to define their sound/music in CON files and giving new names to files so that the filenames don't match original filenames. |
